Day 2 in Paris!
We started our day with excellent breakfast at our hotel! Then, we boarded the coach with our Paris guide, Marie. We drove past les Invalides, the Eiffel Tower, and walked a bit near the Sorbonne. Marie was an excellent guide! We then walked through Notre Dame and finally went on to the Louvre.
The Elder students completed a self-guided tour from ACIS! I was so impressed.
We took the métro back to our hotel and had dinner there with meal vouchers. Burgers were the most popular item in our group!
Our last adventure was back out to the Arc de Triomphe. We climbed to the top and looked out at all the sites we have been enjoying these couple of days.
We were back to the hotel around 11:30 for bed! I believe we walked about 20k steps today!

We had a great flight Monday evening from Cincinnati to Paris. Once landed, we went through passport control and then met our ACIS tour manager, Sonia, with our luggage. We drove to our hotel by coach bus and the students had immediate access to their rooms to freshen up after the flight. I do want to note that as we entered the edges of Paris, we saw groups of refugees living on medians and under bridges. I have never seen groups like this before. There were many, many people and we could see that they had been living here for quite some time. It was sad and surprising to see in person. Our drive continued into the city and finally, we arrived. After that short break, we were on our way by métro to Notre Dame to climb the towers. We bought sandwiches while in line and then made the 400+ stair climb.
After taking in the views, we took the métro back to our hotel (in early rush hour!) and then had an hour to relax before dinner. Our large group meal was a salad of greens, green beans, parmasean cheese, tomato, and mustard vinaigrette. Main course was roasted chicken with rice. Dessert was crème brulée.
Our last adventure was to walk to Tour Montparnasse and take the elevator to the top--56 floors. The elevator is very fast and smooth and there was almost no wait. The 56th floor has indoor views of all of Paris. From there, we climbed (3 I believe?) more flights to the open top floor to see all of Paris from above.
We walked back to iur hotel and then went to our rokms around 9:45 pm local time (3:45 pm in Cincinnati). The students did a great job on a long travel day with very little sleep and lots of walking! Excellent beginning to our travels!
