Today we departed early from Tours for Mont Saint Michel. The drive was beautiful--pretty landscapes and many dairy cows.
When we arrived to the abbey, we found we couldn't take the shuttle due to a workers' strike. So French! We walked instead which was wonderful. The cool temperatures felt great for the long walk.
We entered the town of 25 inhabitants and immediately stopped for lunch. Then, we explored the abbey and walked through the town and the ramparts. It is a magical place to see.
Next, we drove to St Malo. We were dropped off outside the walled city and walked to our hotel. Once here, we had a short break before dinner.
After our group dinner, we walked the ramparts and watched the sunset. What a beautiful place! Off to Normandy tomorrow to learn about D-Day. Then to Rouen for the night.
