Today we left St Malo by 8:00 am. We drove to Normandy to begin our visits at Arromanches. We took in the beach and then viewed the 360 Cinema presentation which tells the story of D-Day cia photographs, video, audio, and maps. The presentation was quite powerful.
Next, we walked into the town and bought lunch. We had a great meal of sandwiches and crêpes while walking around, shopping and exploring the beach.
We boarded the bus again and visited American Cemetary. We walked among the graves, viewed the chapel, and walked down to the beach.
We then made an impromptu stop at Pointe du Hoc. Here, we see the craters left from WWII along with German bunkers and structures. The experience was powerful.
Then, to Rouen. We checked in, had dinner, and then walked through town. We saw the site of Jeanne d'Arc's burning st the stake, the Palais de Justice, the Rouen Cathedral, and the beautiful architecture of the city.
Tomorrow, we leave for Paris. We have 2 days in the city before our flight home on Thursday!
